Our Mission
The mission of the Westlake High School Bands is to provide students with high quality musical experiences that will enhance and enrich their lives in meaningful ways. We focus on growth through building a positive environment where students feel safe to take steps towards personal growth.
Music is a human experience. Through music we learn how to connect with one another as human beings; beings that think, feel, and express emotion. Music is critical to helping students connect with one another and build meaningful relationships.
Extraordinary Experiences
Band teaches students how to be contributing members of a community. Sometimes that community is the classroom, concert hall, or football field. That community is also a national community. We are part of a large band community that supports one another. We have traveled to Indianapolis, San Antonio, Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Boston.
Travel is in integral part of understanding the world we are part of. To better understand our musical community, we travel regularly in the band program. The Marching Thunder travels outside of our state on an every-other-year rotation.
