There 252 days until the 2018 Rose Parade. Rose Parade fun fact of the week: It takes 5000 gallons of glue to make the floats for Rose Parade each year.

Parent Show Shirts

Parents and family members can order show shirts from now until midnight on Wednesday, April 26. We will not be accepting orders after April 26 since the order needs to be finalized so that shirts can be produced.

This is an optional item for parents and family members who would like a show shirt and is not required. Marching band students’ show shirts are included in their fees and they do NOT need to order a show shirt.

Shirts will be white with the Rose Parade “Making A Difference” poster design on front and the Rose Parade logo on the back. Shirts are $18 (tax included) and can be paid for on www.myschoolfees.com or in the finance office. Order shirts at https://goo.gl/forms/Xd88zWeCrShYnvO63.

April 26 Booster Meeting Cancelled

The booster meeting that was scheduled for April 26 has been cancelled. We were able to cover the business planned for that meeting at our meeting on April 12. The minutes for the April 12 meeting can be found here.

Jazz Band Dinner Dance Cancelled

The Jazz Band dinner dance that was scheduled for May 13 has been cancelled due to the scheduling of the 2018 Rose Parade President’s Gala the following week following. The Jazz Band and Wind Symphony will perform at the gala. Details will be discussed at the step-off meeting on May 2.

Rose Parade Visit

On May 19 and 20, Lance Tibbetts, president of the Rose Parade, will be in town to visit the band and to help us raise awareness and money for our trip.

On Friday, May 19, we will be having a “Cool School of the Week” presentation with Fox 13. Please watch for information that will be coming, we will need the students to participate in this! On the morning of Saturday, May 20, we will be participating in service projects to go along with the parade theme of Making a Difference and there will be a fundraising dinner that night.

Details on the schedule for this visit will be provided at the step-off meeting on May 2.

State Festival Performances

The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band have been assigned their times for state festival performances and will be performing on the afternoon of Friday, May 5. Please be sure your student does not have any conflicts with this performance.

We are making one last call to see if there is anyone willing to pull the trailer so that Mr. Mangelson can be on the bus with the students. If you are available to pull the trailer on Friday afternoon May 5, please let Mr. Mangelson know at bmangelson@alpinedistrict.org. We have parents who will ride the bus, if needed, but would prefer to have someone pull the trailer, if possible.

Section Parents Needed

We need of section parents for several sections. If you are interested in becoming a section parent or would like information on what is involved, please contact Charlotte Ducos to get more information.

We have a couple of immediate assignments for our section parents, so we would like to fill these positions as soon as possible. If you are interested, please email cdducos@gmail.com with your name, your student’s name, and what section they are in (what instrument they play). She will contact you with more information and let you know if we need help with your child’s section.
